Guidelines for the Use of Mobile LIDAR in Transportation Applications

As part of the team that developed these Guidelines I am pleased to announce that a pre-publication, non-edited draft version of the report is now available at the TRB (Transportation Research Board) website. This represents more than 18 months of work with the TRB panel to research and produce what we all hope will be a valuable reference document for the transportation industry and beyond.

The principal investigator, Michael Olsen from Oregon State University and I will be making a presentation at SPAR 2013 on the Guidelines. In the meantime please let me know what you think.

  • Dr. Olsen and his team managed to deliver a great synopsis of how LiDAR technology will benefit the TRB.

  • Very interesting.

One of the requirement is for this,

“A continuous, color-coded point density map with summary statistics for objects of interest and for the entire project area.”

    Can you elaborate a bit?
