I had a number of short, but interesting conversations with industry guru Joe Francica at Directions Magazine this week. He is one of the best in the business. In this post he presents the argument for better defining BIM. As his usually the case, Greg Bentley has his own ideas when it comes to terminology and definitions. Few of us have the in-depth knowledge and vision that he does.
It looks like I am going to have to give up my objections to the use of BIM as a generic term for intelligent infrastructure modeling. I am afraid it’s too late. The industry has already adopted it. Anyone for IIM? I doubt it.
Oh well, but I will still not approve of the use of “BIM models”. It’s like a GIS system.

the second I hear someone say BIM MODEL, I want to punch them in the face. It rarely happens though (the punching part).
