Over the past week we have had the pleasure of reviewing a number of high quality submissions for the Younger Geospatial Professional of the Year award. It has been a truly inspiring experience.
For those who have not been tracking this item SPAR 3D, Leica Geosystems and Lidar News joined forces a few months ago to sponsor the Younger Geospatial Professional of the Year Award which will be presented at SPAR 3D 2019 in Anaheim, CA on May 23. The winner of the award will receive a full pass to SPAR 3D, 3 nights hotel and airfare*. The submission was to be in the form of a 2.5 to 3 minute video that explained the YGP’s background, career accomplishments and provided a preview of 10 minute presentation as part of the keynotes on the third morning of SPAR. This process worked very well.
First of all thanks to all of the YGPs that took the time to submit. You are all winners for stepping up and if you did not actually win we hope you will continue with your career development and submit again next year.
The overall level of accomplishment by a number of YGPs was impressive. Many have been working on licensing as a land surveyor in numerous states, they have been rising quickly in their organizations and they have been introducing UAVs into their companies.
In the end the judges decided to narrow it done to the top three in an attempt to recognize how difficult it was to select just one from this group. The winner is being notified today so that he/she can make their plans. The other two will also be notified.
On a final note, we hope everyone will consider joining the Younger Geospatial Professional group on LinkedIn to further this cause. We are only just beginning to get things started.
*The airfare will be reimbursed up to $1,000 coach. For more on the award click here.
