I just got a message from one of the early supporters of LiDAR News Michael Raphael who says Siggraph 2011, an event I have always wanted to attend, is HUGE this year. Michael is the founder of Direct Dimensions, one of the few firms that is just as capable in the metrology world as they are with longer range scanning projects. He reports there is a lot of interest in scanning for movies, games, commercials, TV, and yes even architectural.
This is another confirmation that that people are investing in 3D technology. Did I mention this is the 38th Siggraph conference – that has to make it one of the longest running high tech events of its kind.
Michael invites anyone at Siggraph to visit his booth in the Studio area where he is demonstrating the latest ShapeShot, a facial recognition system. Tell him I said hello.
