Preserving Train History with Laser Scanning

Now this would be a labor of love – laser scanning historic trains to create precise 3D models that can then be 3D printed. Chris Thorpe and partner Becky Fishman have founded Flexiscale to pursue this opportunity. They plan to employ crowdsourcing and perhaps Kickstarter to fund those projects which seem to be of interest to a large enough segment to make it worthwhile. The first one is underway in the UK on the Ffestiniog Englands – the world’s oldest working narrow-gauge engines.

Too much fun.
