LeesburgToday reports that a freshman at the Academy of Science and Briar Woods High School, Jack Dudley, won third place in the junior division of The DuPont Challenge Science Essay Competition. His essay, “Laser Scanning for Land Mines,” was selected as one of the top essays from among nearly 10,000 submitted by students across the United States and Canada.
After reading an article about laser scanning, Dudley suggested using laser technology to find and destroy landmines. This is the kind of pursuit of excellence that we need more of. Congratulations.
