2015 may be the year that flash lidar becomes affordable for a lot more people. I have been tracking this for some time, but the costs have been too high. Tom Laux from Advanced Scientific Concepts, Inc. (ASC), the world’s leader in 3D Flash LIDAR cameras tells me that things are about to change as they begin to achieve economies of scale in 2015 with their manufacturing.
ASC designed the Peregrine family of 3D Flash LIDAR cameras as lightweight, low power 3D video cameras that output range (point cloud) and intensity in real-time. Peregrine application range from collision avoidance to lane departure warning systems to aerial mapping to surveillance to unmanned ground vehicles to BIM data capture to asset management and confirmation.
Stay tuned – this could be a game changer.
