The ILMF, ASPRS Annual conference and MAPPS winter meeting are joining forces to form what is being called  “Geo Week 2019.” The combined conference will take place January 25-31 in Denver, CO. Previously, these three events took place separately throughout the year. By uniting these three events for the first time, geospatial professionals will be able to accomplish a year’s worth of geospatial business in just one week.

In general, I think this makes a lot of sense. The exhibitors are going to be thrilled I am sure, as are most attendees, but there is a downside for those people who want, or in some cases need to attend multiple events. It is difficult enough to cover all of the sessions that one might want to attend at one conference, but three will be even more of a challenge.

Each of the three events will retain the distinct educational programs their respective attendees have come to rely upon for industry news and information as well as career development. Various conference pass options will be available to allow attendees to take part in any or all programing and activities.

I think the benefits will out weigh the challenges. What do you think?
