I came across a reference to the FY2010 FEMA (Federal Emergency Mapping Agency) Standards for LiDAR on the Idaho LiDAR Consortium website. The Standards doc includes the USGS LiDAR Guidelines and Base Specifications v. 13. Both of these are valuable reference sources.
FEMA states that this is being done, “so that data procured and used by the Federal government is consistent across agencies and is updated to industry standards”. It is encouraging to see this kind of cooperation among federal agencies.
The Idaho LiDAR Consortium should also be congratulated and supported for their efforts to disseminate information about LiDAR collects in the state. This could be a model for other states or regions.
