I received an email from Amadeus M. Burger, President of CSA, Inc. noting that one of the BIG stories for 2011 was their implementation of laser scanning technology on smartphones and Android tablets. I have to agree. Their PanoMap software is a disruptive product that should be in high demand as tablets grow in acceptance.
Amadeus notes that, “We can place about 10,000 laser scans on an Android tablet with 32GB of storage. That is sufficient to laser scan a complete nuclear plant or medium size oil refinery. This also could be used to “scan” very large 3D model and place on the tablet.”
The tablet buzz seems to have cooled off from earlier in the year, so it will be interesting to see what happens in 2012 with this platform.
