Geo Week 2022 taking place in Denver, CO the week of February 7 will include two awards competitions. The first is the Lidar Leader Awards and the second is the Younger Geospatial Professional of the Year Award. Over the years Lidar News has been a supporter of younger geospatial professionals (YGPs) as they hold the key to the future of our industry. Unfortunately the academic programs in geospatial are in decline across the U.S. as is the interest in science and math in the K-12 grades. This is a career building opportunity to make a statement about the importance of geospatial education and training.
To encourage YGPs to continue to develop and advance their careers Lidar News and Geo Week are sponsoring an award competition that will provide the winner with an opportunity to address the Geo Week audience with a short keynote address. In addition the speech, the outstanding YGP will receive a complimentary pass to Geo Week, air travel (round trip coach fair up to $500) and hotel accommodations for 3 nights.
