A Comparison of Laser Scanning and Photogrammetry

This was a paper that was presented last year at the 3D Digital Documentation Summit held July 10-12, 2012 at the Presidio, San Francisco, CA. It is accompanied by a 25 minute video that explains in detail the methods and results of this very well done comparative research project.

Bottom line – they found that both methods were capable of producing the desired results. It’s definitely worth a look. There are very few studies like this being published.

  1. Jeff Thurber says:

Pertaining to: full body close range Photogrammetry (AGIsoft, CaptureReality) vs a hand held or moving rack mount scanner, which do you feel offers the best overall value. Unit is a 124 Raspberry Pi 8MP camera Module with 4 projectors around the subject.
