I have received some feedback lately that I need to add more imagery to In the Scan. So I thought I would go the next step and see what I could find on YouTube.
I just did a search on “3D Laser Scanning”. I came up with 661 hits. Amazing! This first one is a general overview of how laser scanning works, which if you need to explain this to someone starting from scratch, perhaps even your partner or kids, might be very helpful.
A quick look at the list reveals the breadth of use of laser scanning, as well as the value of YouTube as a rich communication vehicle particularly in an industry like ours that is so visual to begin with. Digital preservation seems to be a hot topic, as does computer animation. This one seemed really interesting.
It seems that one of the best ideas for the use of YouTube is as a promotional platform for your company’s products/services, and/or completed projects. When you think about it you almost have to use a video to communicate the 3D value derived from laser scanning.
I strongly recommend you to have a look when time permits, and to also make use of this incredible medium.
When I am not being an obscure blogger as a friend recently described me, I am a car nut. For those of you with a similar passion I am sure you know about Jay Leno and his car collection. As Jay likes to say, “He is the President of the More Money than Brains Club” when it comes to car collecting, but Jay is also an incredible student of the hobby. Have a look:
