Vermont’s LiDAR Initiative

A new LiDAR initiative was announced recently by the Vermont Center for Geographic Information. VCGI has created a clearing house for LiDAR data and related information for the state of Vermont which has always been quite progressive when it comes to GIS. Gary Smith for those who know that name had one of the first licenses of Arc/Info in the world. VCGI has also created a blog that looks informative.

I believe the data is free and there is also educational material on LiDAR available on the website. They are also hosting a series of webinars over the next few weeks. Looks great.

One Response to Vermont’s LiDAR Initiative

  1. Chris Crosby says:

Looks like the data must be purchased on hard drive for $185. Some derived products can be downloaded here: http://vcgi.vermont.gov/warehouse/search_tools

The Missisquoi Watershed dataset is also available here: http://opentopography.org/id/OTLAS.022013.32145.1
