Just came across this slide presentation by George Kopp and Alexa Mitchell, both from the Missouri DOT entitled, “Using LIDAR: How Much is Enough?” They did a comparison of airborne and mobile LIDAR and photogrammetric methods for creating a TIN, but from the slides it’s a challenge to understand the differences being noted.
I have a sent them an email to get some clarification. In the meantime the rest of the deck provides insight on the basics of the use of LIDAR.
