As reported in Great Lakes Echo, Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, a part of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), is a 4,300-square-mile shipwreck sanctuary in northwestern Lake Huron. It has one of America’s best-preserved and nationally significant collection of shipwrecks.
“This past year we worked with a company called 2G Robotics and produced a laser scan/point cloud data of one of the shipwrecks called the Monohansett,” Waters said. 2G Robotics reports that they are the world leader for precision underwater dimensional measurement technology.
