NASA Using Flash LIDAR

This is the first test of the NASA Morpheus Autonomous Landing and Hazard Avoidance Technology (ALHAT) system.  ASC’s 3D Flash LIDAR sensor engine is a core enabling technology for the ALHAT program.

These Morpheus tests include using an ASC 3D Flash LIDAR camera to image the hazard field for landing.  The next step in NASA’s development program will be a test based upon identifying landing hazards using the sensor system and diverting the Morpheus to another landing location.

Now that’s a UAS!

    Absolutely fantastic. I wish I was there to witness it live, but, on the other hand, I would have to fly in a helicopter to see it all.
