Just another app to add to the growing list of mass market uses of LiDAR and laser scanning – people tracking for security, and I suppose many other purposes.
The folks at Raytheon BBN, who know a fair amount about signal processing believe that the use of LiDAR to monitor and track people offers many advantages over traditional surveillance camera systems, such as immunity from lighting effects and target hand off from one sensor to another.
