- AGRG in Nova Scotia has 2 openings for their outstanding airborne LiDAR Summer Institute.
- IEEE is sponsoring a 2 day workshop on 3D imaging in Kyoto, Japan October 3 and 4th, 2009.
- iRobot has built a FLASH LADAR camera that has significant consumer applications.

Chris Hopkinson from the Applied Geomatic Research Group – AGRG in Nova Scotia sent me a notice that he has 2 openings in his upcoming LiDAR Summer Institute. This is truly a unique airborne LiDAR learning experience that includes hands on time with the actual aircraft sensor. This 4 day course is focused on operational workflows from planning through data analysis, and is being limited to 10 students. I don’t think you could make a better investment in training.

While on the event calendar topic I just became aware of a more general 3D imaging conference that looks interesting. 3-D Digital Imaging and Modeling – 3DIM 2009 is billed as a 2 day workshop. It is part of the 12th IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision – ICCV2009. The workshop is being held in Kyoto, Japan October 3 and 4th, 2009. Thinking of laser scanning in the more broad context of 3D imaging is very important to the industry.
The final transition for this post links computer vision to FLASH LADAR. I received a comment with a You Tube link to a company, iRobot that has built a FLASH LADAR camera. As you will see this has major commercial and consumer applications.
