Leica Geosystems to Partner with INOVx

  1. Leica Geosystems and INOVx announced a joint partnership for the plant market.
  2. It will focus on the operations and maintenance function.
  3. Richard Vincent from Sanborn Mapping sees airborne and mobile merging into a complete mapping solution.

In addition to the news from Trimble about their new indoor mobile mapping solution, Lieca Geosystems and INOVx issued a joint press release at SPAR 2010 announcing a new strategic partnership aimed primarily at the operations and maintenance side of the plant market.

“We’re very excited about this partnership,” states Juergen Dold, President, Leica Geosystems Geospatial Solutions Division. “We see continued strong demand for our CAD plug-in solutions and our standalone plant modeling solutions. INOVx is a great partner for making plant models intelligent for Operations & Maintenance with seamless exchange to plant design software. Our integrated solutions will provide significant accuracy, efficiency, and open systems benefits.”

One of the more impressive SPAR presentations today came from Richard Vincent at Sanborn Mapping Co. Richard indicated that Sanborn, although one of the oldest mapping firms in the US, was just getting started with mobile mapping. To validate the system they obtained aerial LIDAR and mobile data for the same highway corridor on the same day. They are currently in the process of analyzing and refining the results, but essentially Richard indicated that he sees the 2 systems merging into a complete solution.
