Laser Scanning Used to Reconstruct D-Day Invasion

As reviewed in this article laser scanning was used to more realistically portray the D-Day invasion at Normandy for the PBS special entitled “D-Day 360”. The review makes it sound as though laser scanning was used to magically create the imagery, but I assume it was to capture the topography and the underground structures.

As we approach the 70th anniversary of this incredible battle and on this Memorial Day weekend here in the U.S. it is important to remember the sacrifices that were made that day so that we can be free.
