Well, you knew it was coming – laser scanning using your smart phone and although this may not be quite what you were hoping for the app is still pretty impressive. As you will see a laser source and rotating platform are required, but I am not sure how you would ever build all that into a smart phone. Thanks to Brian Elbe at TrueScan3D for the tip.

Creating a triangulation scanner from a smart phone is a great advancement in both app programming and necessary hardware. I’m excited to try moedls app and test it’s capabilities in the fields of archaeology and cultural heritage preservation.
