The 2013 Cadillac XTS from General Motors will be the most technologically advanced model ever produced. It will include radar, cameras and ultrasonic sensors to increase safety in this high tech vehicle. The sensor fusion strategy includes research into LiDAR to support crash avoidance capability sometime in the future.
Taking it one step further is an article by Patrick Tucker who is a member of the World Future Society, which might give you a clue where this is going. Tucker describes Charles Rattray’s visionĀ with impressive detail in “Autonomous Transportation for the Year 2030“. Rattray has obviously put a lot of thought into this, but it is hard to imagine.
We know Google thinks this is real. I would not bet against it.
