The powerful (pun intended) combination of wind energy and 3D LiDAR are being brought together in Germany where they are focusing their attention on forested sites that can support the use of larger wind turbines. In this article they point out that the required wind profiles are often found on the tops of mountains which adds complexity to the power transmission engineering.
Wind LiDARs are being used for siting studies and to optimize performance.
I can’t think of 2 more important growth areas – energy and 3D. Those companies that can figure out how to put those two business drivers together are going to be positioning themselves for success.
