FIATECH is an industry consortium of owners, engineering firms and technology providers. Quite frankly, although I have been spent my entire career in AEC, I know very little about them – BIG mistake on my part.
FIATECH is focused on accelerating the deployment of emerging and new technologies through their Capital Projects Technology Roadmap. The member firms contribute resources – both financial and human to “revolutionize the capabilities of the capital projects industry”. A review of the research they are working on is very impressive.
Each spring they host their annual Technology Conference and Showcase. This year’s event will be held in Chandler, Arizona from April 18 – 20. I am pleased to announce that Tad Fry and I will be making a presentation promoting the recently adopted ASTM E57 data exchange standard. This group represents an important market for laser scanning services.
From our preliminary conversations we are optimistic that the FIATECH membership will strongly consider adopting the use of the standard on their important industrial and plant projects. Stay tuned.
Gene, I’m looking forward to meeting you and discussing ways we can link and leverage the work and efforts going on in the EPC world with those in AEC. I think there are many opportunities.
