Don’t Forget Photogrammetry

Eugene Liscio from ai2-3D sent me an email reminding me that the photogrammetry session at SPAR 2012 was very well attended and that the technology is making important strides for many applications. Sorry for the omission. I am a believer and have blogged a number of times about this approach.

Perhaps what we need is a detailed and rigorous comparison study to more clearly define the technologies and the cost/benefit analysis. Maybe this has already been done. Thoughts…

One Response to Don’t Forget Photogrammetry

  1. Ian Wilson says:

Absolutely! I would love to see a side-by-side comparison of the same
Ice of ground flown with LiDAR and conventional photogrammetry. A number of examples would be ideal. Both LiDAR and photogrammetry are wonderful tools, but never is the perfect tool for EVERY job.

As my Grandfather used to say, “There’s a reason a gunsmith has 35 different screwdrivers and it’s not because he collected them for a hobby!”
