Cirri to Introduce Low Cost 3D Scanners

Brad Moore, CEO of Cirri has informed me that he has plans to introduce 2 new scanning products. The first is software based – see the video below and the second is an actual sensor.

Brad notes, “Using only photos Cirri automatically creates 3D models with pixel level accuracy and resolution. We are currently crowd funding Cirri –pricing on Indiegogo starting at only $489 ($899 after Jan. 15th). The second scanner, tentatively named CirriPoint, is a hand held white light scanning device with sub-pixel accuracy and resolution potential down to 10 microns, and perhaps better. CirriPoint can also scan smooth, uniform or shiny surfaces whereas Cirri requires texture. It will be priced in the $20K range ready for beta in February 2014.

2014 looks like it is going to be a disruptive year.
