Autodesk Labs Ends Support for Feature and Shape Extraction

Scott Diaz, at kubit just provided me with an important heads up. Autodesk Labs announced last week that, “With regard to Point Cloud Feature Extraction and Shape Extraction, at this time we have no interest in extending these technology previews. The feedback that we would receive would not apply since our future plans would be based on another technology. The situation has changed with the acquisition of the Alice Labs, and it will take some time to integrate the Alice Labs technology into other technology previews, if we decide to do that at all.” Interesting.

For those who do need this functionality Scott notes that “The kubit team will of course continue to support these basic functionalities in our tool sets as we move towards more industry specific workflows in plant, heritage and more. ”

The beat goes on…

Very disappointed reading this. We just started using this features a few weeks ago and they seem to be working pretty well…thanks Autodesk!!
