Augmented Point Clouds

Stéphane Côté blogs and is the Research Director of the Applied Research Group for Bentley Systems. First of all it is encouraging to hear that they have an Applied Research Group. Not a lot of companies in our market will invest in research.

Second, in this post Côté makes the case for using point clouds as both the base for augmentation and the 3D model to accurately align the augmentation data with the imagery. There is no doubt that someday this will be as common as the use of a cell phone.

In this video he provides a glimpse of what this would be like using Bentley software tools that are available today – impressive.
