Apple Submits 28 Mapping Patent Applications Including a 3D Camera

Recently reported in Patently Apple is the fact that Apple recently dropped 28 mapping related patent applications on the U.S. Patent Office. Do you think that has something to do with an announcement this week by Nokia  to remove their Here maps from the Apple App Store? It can take years for these patents to be approved, but it is clear what direction Apple is moving in.

In the article they note that the Apple mapping team has released some impressive 3D mapping apps that may put it ahead of Google. We are all going to be the winners of that competition.

Thanks to Michael Raphael at Direct Dimensions for the heads up.
